Class E Knowledge Testing at Cantor’s Driving School

Online drivers ed and traffic school courseCantor’s Driving School offers the Florida Class E Knowledge Test as an approved third party administrator, authorized by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). Currently this exam can be taken at Cantor’s Driving School’s main office in Palm Beach County, at 3222 Lantana Rd, Atlantis, FL 33462.

  • Any student seeking to obtain a learner’s license who is at least 15 years old can take the Class E Knowledge Exam.
  • The cost For Class E Knowledge Testing is $60.
  • Immediately after the Class E Knowledge Test is completed (pass or fail), the results are sent to the FLHSMV, and a paper copy of the test results is provided. If passed, that test result can be taken to a Tax Collector’s office or FLHSMV service center to get the Florida learner’s permit and get photo taken, as long as the TLSAE course has also be completed.
  • Transportation to the Atlantis office is not provided.

Class E Knowledge Test Details

All drivers in Florida are required to pass this Class E Knowledge Test to get a learner’s license. The Class E Knowledge Exam is commonly known as the “written test”, even though it is taken on a computer now.

The Class E Knowledge Exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions about Florida traffic laws, safe driving practices and identifying traffic controls. To pass, you must answer 40 out of 50 questions correctly, or score 80 percent. To prepare for the Class E Knowledge Exam, study the Official Florida Driver License Handbook. At the end of the handbook there are some practice questions that will help to pass the test successfully.

The Class E knowledge examinations are available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Haitian Creole, and Russian.

If the exam is not passed, the test can be retaken after 24 hours at the Cantor’s Driving School Office, but of course only when the test is offered: Monday – Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM.

  • Social Security card and birth certificate or passport if the student a US citizen (copies are NOT acceptable)
  • Alien Registration Number / immigration documents if non-US citizen

What To Do After Passing the Class E Knowledge Test

Once a person passes the Class E Knowledge Exam, Cantor’s Driving School, as an authorized third party administrator, will automatically upload the exam results to the FLHSMV. This information is then available at all driver’s license offices and tax collector’s offices throughout the State of Florida. We will also provide a certificate or proof of passing the exam to bring to the FLHSMV or any tax collector’s office. An appointment then has to be made at the FLHSMV or tax collector’s office in order to obtain a Florida learner’s license. New drivers must pass both the Class E Knowledge Exam and the mandatory Florida Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) course (also available from via Cantor’s Driving School) to get a learner’s license.

The learner’s license is required to take driving lessons and the road test at Cantor’s Driving School.

Note: Section 322.56(3)(b) and (e) of Florida Statutes provides that someone who passes the Class E Knowledge Exam or Driving Skills Test through an authorized third party administrator may be randomly selected for a no fee mandatory re-test without prior notice. After a re-test with a passing score is completed in a driver’s license or tax collector’s office, the license will be issued. A failed mandatory re-test will require a re-exam fee be collected at the next exam attempt.
