All Instructors Are Florida State-CertifiedEvery Cantorís Driving School instructor is certified by the State of Florida, a rigorous process that includes driving instructor training and submission of extensive documentation proving credibility of qualifications and character, including:
- Complete the 32-hour Driving Instructor Training Course (DITC)
- Submit a commercial driving school instructor application
- Driving school owner Frank Cantor must provide a notarized statement of employment as a driving instructor at his school
- A valid Florida driver license and a clear driving record for the previous 3 years (at least), with no license "suspensions, revocations, cancellations, or disqualification"
- Submit a set of fingerprints for a fingerprint-based criminal background check
- Submit a recent, clean Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) report
- Certification must be renewed every year

Meet Our Driving Instructors in Broward County and Palm Beach County
Glenn ToppingGlenn is a retired Broward County Patrol Sergeant. He presently is an Air Security Officer who assists Immigration and Customs Enforcement with custody and control of detainees. During his tenure in the Police force he completed many training classes and has received many honors and awards for his police work. Glenn is also currently a private Investigator and bodyguard; his company is Spyglass Investigations and Protection LLC. He is a graduate of Miami Dade College.
Michael BanksMichael is retired from the Pembroke Pines Police Department. He served the department for 25 years as a patrol officer for 5 years and a Traffic Homicide Investigator in the traffic unit for 20 years. Michael has investigated hundreds of traffic crashes over the years and has taught other members of the department crash investigation and traffic safety. He also taught traffic school safety courses. Michael is a native of South Florida and a resident of Broward County.
Mike ConklinMike is retired from the New York City Police Department. He served as a police officer for over 5 years and as a detective investigator on the highway patrol/accident investigation division for over 15 years. Mike has performed numberous criminal investigations of motor vehicle accidents with emphasis on leaving the scene, serious injuries and fatalities. After retiring from NYPD, he was a special investigator conducting insurance fraud, vehicle theft and surveillance. Mike's background in motor vehicle accidents is an asset to teaching all ages to be defensive and safe drivers. Mike is a resident of Palm Beach County.
Al CaballeroAl is a retired Law Enforcement Officer with the New York City Police Department. Alís 17 years of experience includes working as a Patrol Officer (from investigating accidents for the Streets Division to the Health & Hospital Corporation), Security Detail for the New York Yankees, and Detective with the Organized Crime Control Bureau. Al has also worked with the NYC Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer. Al resides with his family in Palm Beach County and is fluent in Spanish as well as English. He has two daughters whom he has personally taught to drive. His experience, patience and bilingual skills help him effectively teach students of all ages to drive safely.
Gordon StarrGordon is retired from the United States Navy as a Military Police Officer, Chief of Police for the Military Police Academy and Criminal Investigator. He was also a Palm Beach Sheriff serving as a District Police Officer, Gang Task Force and Deputy Patrol Officer. Gordon has extensive background in accident investigation and aggressive driving enforcement. He is a resident of Palm Beach County.
Mike McNameraMike is a retired NYPD officer, retiring after 20 years of service. He started as a patrol officer for 5 years, then spent the rest of his career in the elite ESU unit (also known as SWAT team) as a rescue specialist. His duties included protecting the President and visiting dignitaries from other countries while in NYC. Other duties included hostage rescue, warrant executions, responding to serious medical emergencies, vehicle extraction, water rescue, hazardous material emergencies and crisis intervention. His last duties as an NYPD officer was with search and rescue team for World Trade Center. He attended John Jay College in NY for emergency psychological technician. He is a certified by Red Cross for CPR. He is also a licence armed guard for the state of Florida. After retiring he worked as a certified school security guard for Northport High School in NY and as a Park Ranger for Town of Babylon, NY. He is married for over 37 years and has 3 children.
Jeff CohenJeff is a retired Miami Beach Police Department Motor Sergeant. He is a certified police instructor of police motorcycling, police bicycling, chemical agents, rappelling, and firearms. During his police career, Jeff served 15 years as a SWAT operator and supervisor. He spent 18 years as a motorcycle officer, the last six as the sergeant of the motorcycle unit and traffic homicide unit. He coordinated the logistics and traffic patterns of several major events in the city of Miami Beach. He has been recognized for his role in improving the safety of the roads in the city of Miami Beach. Jeffís expertise includes traffic patrol, speed enforcement, tactical maneuvers, community policing, and training. He has been a youth mentor for the Broward County Public Schools since 1998 and is currently a high school softball coach and youth baseball coach.
Joe GomesJoe is a retired 20 year veteran of the New York Police Department (NYPD) and a 6 year veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. For 16 years he was assigned to the Highway Patrol unit, where some of his responsibilities were traffic enforcement, accident investigations, from minor collisions to accidents involving fatalities, Breathalyzer testing for DUI arrests as well as dignitary and high profile escorts, both in cars and on motorcycles. The last 6 years of his career were spent in the Midtown Manhattan motorcycle unit, dealing with keeping the traffic in one of the most congested areas of the city moving as freely as possible. Being a lifelong motorcyclist, after retiring in 2004 Joe took his passion for riding along with a desire to see new riders learn the right way to ride and became a Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor. After relocating to Florida 5 years ago, Joe took the steps to become certified as a behind the wheel driving instructor as well. Joe also umpires baseball for Palm Beach County schools, referees all levels of ice hockey in South Florida and continues to skate 3 times a week in local leagues. Joe and his wife live in Palm Beach county.
Keith KrakowskiKeith resides in Palm Beach County. He was a police officer in Auburn Police Department, Auburn, MA, for 8 years (4 in uniform and 4 as a detective), a police officer for 3 years in Daytona Beach, FL, and a special agent with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for 20 years. With DEA, he spent approximately 12 years overseas to in such countries as Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Panama, Honduras, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Upon retirement from DEA, he became a security contractor (manager/director) in Iraq for nearly 4 years and another year in Pakistan. His education includes: MA in Criminal Justice, BS in Sociology and AS in Law Enforcement.
